Abraham Parker
Abraham Parker was among the settlers of Chelmsford, incorporated in 1655 on land granted a few years earlier, and the town register enters a long row of his children by his wife Roas, whose name the clerks also wrote Rose: Elisabeth, Lydia, Isaac, Mary and Moses.
The same register holds children of an Abraham Parker by a Martha, which is either a second marriage of this man or a son of the same name. No known record settles which.
A genealogy of the Parker and Whitlock families printed in 1933 says that he "first settled at Woburn, Mass., where he was married to ROSE WHITLOCK in 1644. He was admitted freeman 1645, and removed to Chelmsford, probably upon its incorporation in 1653, with his brothers Jacob, James, Joseph, and a fifth brother, John, having settled about the same time at Shawsheen, now Andover." The marriage was on 18 November 1644.
He died at Chelmsford on 13 August 1685. His will, made six days before, "is on file in Suffolk Probate Records, and was proved there years later, before Sir Edmund Andros," the royal governor of the Dominion of New England. His widow died in 1691.
