Alberta Viola Winn
Alberta Viola Winn was born on 7 June 1879 in Cedar County, in eastern Iowa, the daughter of John Winn and Sarah Ella Crees. In 1880 she was a baby in her parents' household in Iowa Township of Cedar County. When she was eight the family moved across the state to Red Oak.
On her twentieth birthday, 7 June 1899, she married Isaac Llewellyn Dilley at Red Oak. They had three sons and three daughters: Llewellyn, Ralph, Paul, Ruth, Helen and Grace. Isaac carried the rural mail out of Red Oak for thirty five years. In 1936, when he retired, they moved to the Nodaway neighborhood. She belonged to the Women's Relief Corps, the women's auxiliary of the Grand Army of the Republic, the Union veterans' society, and to the Nodaway Methodist church.
In June 1949 the family gathered for their golden wedding anniversary. On 29 October she was stricken, and she died of a cerebral hemorrhage on Thursday, 10 November 1949, in the Municipal Hospital at Clarinda. Her sons Paul and Ralph were among the pall bearers. She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak. She left her husband, six children, thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a sister and four brothers in Red Oak: Mrs. Frank Gillespie and Harry, Frank, Merle and Charles Winn.
