Allah Pearson

b. 1785
Born 1785
Children include George

She was the wife of George Pearson of McMinn County, Tennessee, and the mother of his seven children. In May 1824 he made her one of his two executors and left her the plantation and everything on it to run for the family, with the children's schooling to be "attended to with all possible care". If she remarried, the estate was to be divided equally among the seven children and her. She did not remarry. Her maiden name is not known.

She was still on the McMinn place fifteen years later, a widow raising the two youngest. The State of Tennessee had granted the quarter section to "the heirs of George Pearson", which made every child a part owner. In 1839 she gathered the older children's consent to sell. Pleasant and William, living in Benton County, Alabama, sent powers of attorney from Jacksonville in February. George W., still in McMinn, signed his in August. On 17 September 1839 she sold the 160 acres to David Maxwell, signing for four of her sons, for herself, and as guardian of Christopher Columbus and Lucinda Jane. She could not write her name and made her mark.

Within three months she was in Texas. On 5 December 1839 the land board of Houston County, sitting at Crockett, certified that Ally Pearson was entitled to a conditional headright of 640 acres as a late emigrant to the Republic. Her land was laid out about six miles south of Rusk, on the east side of the Neches, in country the Cherokee had held until that summer. In May 1847 the board of Washington County, at Brenham, swore that she had lived in the Republic three years and done all a citizen should, and that December the State of Texas patented the 640 acres to her. Her son George W. Pearson's family was in Washington County by 1846 and settled in Cherokee County, where her grant lay.

A descendant's lineage gives her birth as about 1785 and says she died in Burnet County, Texas. No record of her death has been found.
