Born 1593, England
Father: George King
Mother: Joane King

Ann King was the daughter of George King, a yeoman of Cold Norton in Essex, and very probably of his wife Joane. Her name is also written Anne and Kinge. On 9 June 1613 she was licensed to marry William Vassall of Eastwood. The licence calls her "Anne Kinge of Cold Norton, spinster, about 20, daughter of George Kinge of Cold Norton, yeoman, who appeared and did give express consent, to be married at Cold Norton." So she was born about 1593, and the wedding was in her own parish.

Her first child, Anne, was born on 6 September 1614 and died sixteen days later at Cold Norton. Judith followed about 1619 and Frances about 1623. The family was living at Rayleigh in Essex when twins, Samuel and Mary, were born on 22 June 1624. Samuel died there on 10 November, and Mary died young. A son William also died young. John was born about 1625, Ann about 1629, Margaret about 1633 and Mary about 1634.

Her father died in the autumn of 1625. In his will he left "unto Anne Vassall my daughter my sealing ring of gold," and twenty shillings each to her children John, Judeth and Francis. He made her husband his sole executor.

She sailed from London in the Blessing in 1635 with her husband and six children. The passenger list gives her age as forty two, the same as his. Her children on the ship were Judith, sixteen; Frances, twelve; John, ten; Ann, six; Margaret, two; and Mary, one. They stopped first at Roxbury, where the minister John Eliot entered her among the members of the church: "Mrs. Anna Vassaile, the wife of Mr. Willia Vassaile, her husband five children to this land, Judith, Frances, John, Margaret, Mary." He left out Ann.

The family settled at Scituate, in Plymouth Colony, where her husband built Belle House on the North River in 1635. Her daughter Judith married Resolved White in 1640 and Frances married James Adams in 1646. In 1646 her husband sailed for England and then went to Barbados, where he died in 1655. Whether she went with him is not recorded.
