Ann Richardson
Ann Richardson was a daughter of Samuel Richardson, a Quaker who came to Pennsylvania from Spanish Town, Jamaica, and bought land there in 1686. Her father sat on the provincial council of Pennsylvania, the body that governed the colony with the proprietor's governor, and was an alderman of Philadelphia. Her mother was his first wife, Elliner, who died at the family's plantation near Germantown in 1703. Her brother was Joseph, and her sisters were Mary, wife of William Hudson, and Elizabeth, wife of Abraham Bickley.
In 1694 she married Edward Lane. Four years later he bought 2,500 acres on the Perkiomen Creek. They had six children: William, Samuel, James, Eleanor, Elizabeth and Anne. Edward died about March 1710 and left their son Samuel the land west of the Perkiomen.
After Edward's death she married Edmund Cartledge of Conestoga, in what became Lancaster County, and had three Cartledge children.
Her father made his will on 6 June 1719 and died four days later. He named her "my Daughter Ann Cartlidge" and remembered all nine of her children.
