Ann Swan
Ann, first wife of Richard Swan of Rowley in Essex County, Massachusetts, and the mother of his children. The Rowley register enters her burial on 4 April 1658 simply as Ann, w. Richard, and her maiden name, her birth and her origin are not known.
Two of her children are recorded by name and parents in the Rowley births: Mercy, daughter of Richard and An, on the fourth day of the fifth month 1640, and Faith, daughter of Richard and Ann, on the thirtieth day of the first month 1644. Her daughter Dorothy married Thomas Abbot in 1655 and Sarah, born about 1646, married Capt. Joseph Boynton on 13 May 1669. The rest of the family is known from her husband's will of 1678, which names one son, Robert, and daughters Jane Wilson, Franciss Quilter, Dorothy Chapman, Mercy Warner, a daughter married to a Stickney, and Sarah.
She had been dead twenty years when that will was made, and the wife it provides for is a different woman of the same name.
