Ann (Trumble) Swan
Ann, wife of Richard Swan of Rowley. She married him on 1 March 1658 and the Rowley register enters her under the surname Trumble, so she came to him a widow, and the marriage was made on a contract settled beforehand which Richard's own will acknowledges three times over.
She made her will on 4 July 1678, a few weeks after her husband was buried, and it was proved at Ipswich on 24 September. It names her own children and none of his: her daughters Abigaill Baily and Mary Killburne, her sons Caleb, John and Jonathan Hopkinson, and a son John Trumble. She left the two daughters her beds, her pewter and every stitch of her clothing, woolen and linen, to be equally divided between them; she left John Trumble one book of Mr Boltons works; and she made John and Jonathan Hopkinson her executors. Her whole estate came to 41 pounds 4 shillings and 3 pence, against her husband's 486.
Sarah Swan, who married Capt. Joseph Boynton, was born at Rowley in 1646, twelve years before this marriage, and is not mentioned in this will. She was Richard Swan's daughter by an earlier wife and not Ann's.
