Anna Maria Pedersdatter Tønder, born at Sandsgård in Tysvær on the Rogaland coast in 1670 and dead at Ile in Vikedal in 1700, at about thirty. She married Lars Gudmundsen Ile, the lensmann and farmer of that place, a man the family record calls rich.

Three children are recorded to them, all born in the last four years of her life: Gudmund in 1697, Peter in 1699 and Margreta in 1700, the year she died. Her husband married again, to Kirsten Jakobsdatter Valen.

Her patronymic gives her a father named Peder and her surname is the one that mattered. Her second son took it rather than a farm name, went to the other side of Norway as a bailiff's clerk, married the daughter of the magistrate of Kragerø, and was handed that magistrate's two offices in 1720. He held them for fifty years and his son held one of them after him, and the town's own history calls him the founder of the Norwegian Tønder family. The name was hers.
