Anne Clark
Anne Clark was born at New Haven, Connecticut, on 17 June 1717, one of the eleven children of Stephen Clark and Sarah Hill. Her mother died when she was nine.
She married Robert Colver, a son of the Rogerene John Culver of Groton, Connecticut, who had taken his family to New Jersey in the 1730s. In 1748 Robert was living in Monmouth County, near the shore, and that December "Robert Colver, a Quaker, and Anna Colver" witnessed a deed at Barnegat. In 1748 Robert also bought 265 acres on Schooley's Mountain in Morris County, and the family farmed there for the rest of his life.
Robert made his will on 1 January 1783. He left her, "Wife, Anne," the movable goods and the use of the house. He died six days later. The children named in the will are David, the first born, Timothy, Joseph, Robert, Mercy Hill, Anne Waeir, Lavinah Saverin and Esther Hann. She is the only wife of his on record, and so very probably their mother. Her own death is not recorded.
