Anne Jacobsdatter

Wife of Poul Gundersen of Tvedt in Nissedal, entered beside him in the census of February 1801 as hans kone, aged fifty-one, the two of them marked Begge i 1te egteskab, both in a first marriage. Four of their children were still at home: Abraham twenty-three, Susane sixteen, Else thirteen and Christian twelve.

That both were in a first marriage matters more than it looks. It means Poul had no earlier wife, so every child of his is hers, including the Gunder Poulsen who was already farming his own household at the same Tvedt farm in 1801 with an infant son, and who named that son Poul.

Nothing else of her survives in any searchable record. Her father was a Jacob by the patronymic. Nissedal lay in Kviteseid prestegjeld in her lifetime, and nothing at all from that parish is transcribed before the church book that opens in 1800, so her baptism, her marriage and her burial are all behind an unread wall.
