Anne Maria Moss was a daughter of Anders Moss, a merchant of Kongsberg, and his wife Anne Malene. Kongsberg was the town of the royal silver works, and two officers of the mines stood in the family's circle. She was confirmed in Kongsberg church on 25 April 1745 as Anna Maria Andersd. Moss, daughter of Anders. Confirmation came in the middle teens, so she was probably born about 1730.

Her father was buried at Kongsberg on 31 December 1750, aged fifty-five. By then she was engaged to Captain Jens Evensen Kraft, chief of the 2nd Østre Telemark company of infantry. The town's probate court registered her father's estate on 26 January 1751. The list of heirs names her as his daughter, forlovet med, engaged to, Captain Iens E. Kraft.

Two days later she married the captain. The Kongsberg clerk wrote: "Hr. Capit. Jens Kraft & Jomfr. Anna Maria Moss, med Kongl. dispensat. uden foregaaende Trolovelse copul. hiemme i Huuset." Captain Jens Kraft and the maiden Anna Maria Moss were married at home, by royal dispensation, without a betrothal first. Ordinarily a couple were betrothed before the priest and had banns read before they married in church. A dispensation from the Crown set all of that aside. Her father had been dead four weeks, and his estate was still open.

Her first child, Magdalena Andrea, was born in 1752. The girl's two names were the names of Anne Maria's parents, Malene and Anders. Five more children followed: Lovise Christence in 1754, Susanne about 1757, Christine about 1758, and about 1762 a son and a daughter, Christiane. The family kept its ties to Kongsberg. Lovise Christentze was confirmed there in 1768 and Christine in 1775.

Her husband was put on half pay in 1765 and died at Eg, a farm in Bamble on the Telemark coast, on 22 October 1778. On 13 November the Bamble probate court came to Eg to register and value his estate. The first heir it names is "Enken Anne Maria født Moss", the widow Anne Maria born Moss. The son, sixteen, and the youngest daughter, Christiana, were living at home with her. Christine was living at Kongsberg. Susanne was living with her married sister Lovise at Kragerø. Magdalena Andrea was married to the merchant Niels Simonsen at Risør.

When she died is not known. She was living as a widow at Eg in November 1778.
