Annis Chandler
Annis came from England to Roxbury, Massachusetts, about 1637 with her husband William Chandler and four small children. Her maiden name is not known. In his will of 1640 Deacon George Alcock of Roxbury left something to "our brother Chandler," and from that the family's genealogist supposed she was an Alcock.
She was admitted to the Roxbury church at the same time as her husband. William died of consumption in January 1642, leaving her with five children.
On 2 July 1643, as Ann, she married John Dane, who had come from Berkhamsted and Bishop's Stortford in Hertfordshire. He paid William's debts and brought up the Chandler children. He died in 1658. On 9 August 1660 she married John Parmenter of Sudbury, a former deacon and selectman, whose will of 1671 left her "the use of my warming pan so long as she remain my widdow."
She outlived all three husbands. The Roxbury church recorded her death on 15 March 1683: "died Old Mother Parminter a blessed saint."
