Ariminta Baldwin
Ariminta Baldwin was born on 12 August 1763. The date is in the Noulton family Bible. The typist who copied the page put "d." in front of it, but she was alive in 1820 at fifty seven, so the date is her birth. Clerks wrote her name as Amittai, Amitta, Ametta and Amitte.
On 14 December 1786 she married Nathan Noulton at Shelburne, in Hampshire County, Massachusetts. Their son Daniel swore to it in 1851, adding that "before her marriage, her maiden name was Amitta Baldwin." A son born about 1797 was named Baldwin.
She bore at least six children: Nathan, Daniel, Baldwin, Justice, Ruby and Harvey, the youngest, born in December 1802. The family was at Northfield, Massachusetts, in 1790, and in Saratoga County, New York, by 1818. In 1820 her husband's pension papers counted "a wife Amittai aged 57", with Harvey, sixteen, the one son still at home.
Nathan died in Tioga County, New York, on 9 November 1829. She lived on there as a widow for ten years and died on 27 March 1840. An act of 1837 entitled her to a widow's pension for his service, and she never claimed it. Eleven years after her death her children applied. Daniel, who administered her estate, made the sworn statements at Owego in February 1851.
Her parents are not known. She is not in Shelburne's printed records, and the Baldwin Genealogy does not place her.
