Clarence E. Leonard
Clarence Eugene Leonard was born about 1867, the son of George E. Leonard and Martha A. On 3 March 1888, at twenty-one, he married Florence Wallace at Taunton, the old manufacturing city on the Taunton River in Bristol County, Massachusetts. She was eighteen, the daughter of James and Jennie Wallace.
The couple moved to Wareham, at the head of Buzzards Bay, and raised a family there. Their children included Elmer Carlton, born about 1888, William E., Florence M., Lester Harold, born at Wareham on 11 July 1891, and Lottie Mildred.
When Lester married Grace F. Snell at Wareham on Christmas Day 1914, the town clerk wrote Clarence E. Leonard and Florence J. Wallace into the register as his parents. Lester gave his second son, Everett, born in 1920, the middle name Wallace. In June 1923 Elmer Carlton Leonard, then thirty-five, married Anna May Diamond at Wareham, and his record names his parents as Clarence Eugene Leonard and Florence Jane Wallace.
