Cornelis was baptized on 30 May 1686 in the Dutch church at Kingston, Ulster County, New York. The entry names his parents as Leur Jacobz and Grietie Tack. The witnesses were Andries Pieterz. and Marritie Davidtz. His grandfather Jacob Luursen had come from Wageningen in Gelderland forty years earlier.

He married Marretjen Westvaal, called Marytie Westphalen in 1706. The Westvaals were Kingston neighbors, and several of Cornelis's brothers and sisters married into the same family. Their marriage entry was not found.

On 27 October 1706 Cornelis and Marytie brought their son to the Kingston church to be baptized Leur, after his grandfather. The same day Cornelis's own father had a daughter baptized in the next entry. Cornelis was entered as "Cornelis Kuykendaal," one of the first times the surname was written.

More children followed: Margriet, baptized 7 May 1710; Marretjen, 22 June 1712; by family accounts Nelletjen in 1715 and Johannes in 1717; and Abraham, baptized on 18 October 1719, with Jan Van Etten and Jannetjen Roosa as witnesses. The 1919 family history adds a son Pieter baptized in 1733.

The family lived in the valleys west of Kingston, at Rochester and then in the Minisink along the upper Delaware. His son Leur, marrying in 1732, was described as "born in Menissing." According to the 1919 history, Cornelis later went south with his youngest sons. His death was not found.
