Cynthia Jane Rockwell
Cynthia Jane Rockwell was born in Ohio on 6 May 1844. Her mother was Martha Curtis, born in Scotland in 1804, who had married first a man named Porter and then, on 20 May 1838 at Medina, Ohio, Imley Rockwell. Imley is very probably Cynthia's father, though no record names him so.
On 2 November 1865, at twenty-one, she married Harvey Warner of Sextonville, Richland County, Wisconsin. He was a widower of forty-three. His first wife, Mary W. Rockwell, had died in February 1864 and left him three living children, the eldest seventeen. Whether the two Rockwell wives were related is not known.
Cynthia's daughter, Jennie Melinda, was born on 20 July 1866. Cynthia died on 14 May 1868, aged twenty-four, eight days after her birthday. She is buried at Sextonville Cemetery. Her stone reads "CYNTHIA J. W. / BORN MAY 6, 1844 / DIED MAY 14, 1868".
When Jennie married Ezra Oscar Thompson in Richland County in 1885, the clerk wrote her mother down as Jenny Rockwell. Jenny is a pet form of Jane, Cynthia's middle name, and Jennie's own name was very probably taken from it.
