David Thomas
David Thomas was born in Vermont about 1801 and farmed at Primrose, in the western corner of Dane County, Wisconsin, where the censuses of 1860 and 1870 both find him. He married a Clarissa born in New York the same year, and their children were born along a line that runs from New York into Ohio and stops in Wisconsin.
Six of them can be counted. E. Follett and Mary were born in New York in 1829 and 1832, and Caroline followed about 1834. Then the family moved, because Mathilda, George and Ashley were born in Ohio in 1839, 1840 and 1842. By 1857 they were at Primrose, and it was there, on 18 November of that year, that Caroline married Luke Farwell and the clerk took down her father's name.
He is in the 1870 census with Clarissa and the two youngest still at home. He is not in the 1880 one. The house at Primrose that year holds his two New York born children and a woman of his wife's age and birth, so he died in that decade. No burial is known.
