Deliverance Byram
Deliverance Byram was a daughter of Ensign Nicholas Byram of Weymouth and Bridgewater, Massachusetts, and his wife, called Susanna in one account and Martha in others. Her father had come to New England after being sold into service in the West Indies as a boy, by the family's story.
She married John Porter of Weymouth on 9 February 1660. The Weymouth book enters the marriage as "Porter, John and Deliverance Biram, Apr. 9, 1660." Her husband was a son of Richard Porter, one of the first settlers of the town. He became a sergeant of the militia, a large buyer of land and the builder of a saw mill.
Her children were Mary, Susanna, John, Samuel, Nicholas, Ruth, Thomas, Ebenezer and Sarah. In 1705 she and her husband sold Grape Island, in Weymouth.
John Porter made his will in February 1715/16 and named her executrix. He died on 7 August 1717. She lived three more years and died on 30 September 1720.
