Eilev Olsen Solberg

Eilev Olsen Solberg, of the Solberg farm in Drangedal in Telemark, was dead before 1645. His patronymic gives his father's name as Ole. He married a woman named Tåran.

A modern account of the family calls him den styrtrike Eiliv Solberg, the enormously rich Eiliv Solberg. It names him as the great-grandfather of the Halvor Halvorsen Solberg who was born in 1676. The Drangedal family register bears it out. Halvor born 1676 was the son of Halvor Aasulfsen, who was the son of Aasolf Eilevsen, the lensmann and churchwarden born at Solberg. The register gives Aasolf's household as number 442, entered as Eilev Olsen Solberg.

His son Aasolf married in 1636 and was lensmann, the parish sheriff, and churchwarden of Drangedal until his death about 1657. His daughter Liv married Anund Larsson Vefall. About 1650 Liv's husband was killed by her own brother Aasolf, who paid half a tønne in Vefall to their children in compensation and signed the deed himself.

His grandson held the farm. His great-grandson Halvor held the sheriff's office in turn and married a daughter of the mayor of Skien, and a great-great-granddaughter married a Kragerø shipowner. His great-granddaughter Tåran, born 1678, was named for his wife. Of himself nothing more is known: no birth, no exact death, no account of the property that made his reputation.
