Elisabeth Hense
Elisabeth Hense was the wife of Franz Heinrich Hercules of Warstein, in the Sauerland country of Westphalia. The parish register of St. Pankratius names her at the baptism of her son in August 1800: Joes Casparus Wilhelmus, legitimate son of Franciscus Henricus and Elisabethae Hense. Twenty-six years later her son's marriage act named her again as his mother.
Hense was one of Warstein's common surnames; the parish's own alphabetical baptism index carries Hense children by the dozen across the half century around her, and without her own baptism entry none of them can be fixed as hers. Whether she lived to see her son marry is doubtful: a Franz Hercules, probably her husband, stood as a bridegroom that August, ten weeks before Caspar's October wedding, which would put her death before the summer of 1826. Her burial entry is not known, though the Warstein registers that should hold it survive.
