Elizabeth Clark
Elizabeth Clark was the wife of David Swezy, of Southold on Long Island and later of Goshen in Orange County, New York. Their son's gravestone names her as his mother. Their children were David, born in 1746/7, Jonathan, and Elizabeth, who married a Satterly. They were married at Southold on 13 March 1739/40. William Salmon entered it in his private register of Southold marriages as "David Swesey & Elesabth Clark," with Clark written over another name, which the editor of 1918 thought was probably Howel.
Her husband made his will at Goshen on 23 July 1778. He left her "my best feather bed, with all furniture, and my large chest with drawers, and one large looking glass, a warming pan, and all pewter and earthenware, and a middle-sized iron pot, and a large copper tea kettle, one woolen wheel and two linnen wheels." Their son Jonathan, who took the farm, was "to provide a good maintainance for my wife."
He died before May 1779. She was living when he made the will. Her own birth, parents and death are not known.
