Elizabeth Scarlett married John Warren, a cardmaker of Nayland in Suffolk, at St James's church there on 4 October 1584. A cardmaker made the cards, boards set with bent wire teeth, that were used to comb wool out before it was spun, and Nayland lived by the cloth trade. She was probably the Elizabeth, daughter of John Scarlett, christened at Nayland on 30 August 1561, which would make her twenty three at her wedding.

Her first son, John, was christened ten months later, on 1 August 1585. Nine more children followed: Daniel in 1586, Isaac in January 1588, Nathaniel in 1590, Amos in March 1592, Joshua in 1594, a Joseph buried as a child in July 1596, and Thomas, Elizabeth and Mary. Joseph was buried in July 1596 and Daniel the next February, at ten.

She was buried at Nayland on 27 March 1603, entered as "Elizabeth, wife of John Warren." Her husband married twice more, both times to a woman named Rose. In his will of 1613 he left his house in Fen Street to her eldest son John. Seventeen years after that, John took his wife and four children to Watertown in Massachusetts.
