Elizabeth Wear
Elizabeth Wear was born about 1843, in Ohio by the 1880 census and in Pennsylvania by her son George's 1945 death certificate. Her maiden name is Wear on that certificate and Weir on her daughters' marriage returns of 1888 and 1889. A family tree spells it Wier and shows a Wier father for her without a first name.
About 1860 she married John Sullivan, a New Yorker a year or so younger than she was. Their first child, Harriet Rebecca, called Hattie, was born in Indiana in August 1861. Mary F. and George W. followed, George at Terre Haute in 1867. The family had moved to Illinois by about 1873, and Rhoda and then Ida were born there.
In June 1880 she was keeping house at Cotton Hill, Sangamon County, at thirty-seven, with all five children at home. Her daughters married in central Illinois: Hattie to Briant Barker in 1884, Mary F. to George T. Wagoner in 1888 and Rhoda to Peter Deweese in 1889. A family tree gives her death in 1904.
