Ellen Green
Ellen sailed for New England in 1635 in the Susan and Ellen with her husband Percival Green. The London list of 18 April 1635 enters her as "uxor Ellin Greene 32," the wife of a husbandman aged 32. Her maiden name is not known. At Cambridge she and Percival both joined the church.
Her son John was born in June 1636 and her daughter Elizabeth in April 1639. Her husband died on Christmas Day 1639, leaving an estate of £63.
About 1650 she married Thomas Fox. The marriage agreement bound Fox to pay "ten pounds apiece unto the two children of the sd Ellen Greene." John was fourteen then and Elizabeth eleven. Elizabeth married John Hall of Concord in 1656. John married Ruth Mitchelson the same year, and in 1681 he became Marshal-General of the colony.
She died on 27 May 1682, aged 82 by her gravestone. That age puts her birth about 1600, three years earlier than the 32 the ship list gave her in 1635. After her death her grandchildren sued Thomas Fox for the Green homestead, and lost.
