Grace Lee Leonard was born at Huntington in Cabell County, West Virginia on 31 January 1932, a daughter of Chauncey Leonard and Mary Glascock. In the 1950 census she is eighteen and still at home, the eldest daughter in a house of eight children, her father working as a corrugated paper worker. She married Emerson Fetty in 1953 and was widowed ten years later with young children.
She was a member of the Church of Christ for all her adult life. She loved the outdoors and flowers in bright colours, she liked to travel and see new things, and the flea markets and antique stores got shopped along the way. She died on 27 March 2026 at the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center, aged ninety four, and was buried at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Barboursville beside Emerson. Those who came were asked to wear bright colours.
She left five children, eleven named grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
