Hannah Oldham
Hannah Oldham was born at Scituate, in Plymouth Colony, on 7 March 1664/5. The town book enters her as "Hannah, d. Thomas, Mar. 7, 1664-5." The double year comes from the old calendar, in which the year began on 25 March, so a date in early March fell in 1664 by the reckoning then and in 1665 by the modern one.
Her parents were Thomas Oldham and Mary Witherell, a minister's daughter. She was the fourth of their nine children: Mary, Thomas, Sarah, Hannah, Grace, Isaac, Ruth, Elizabeth and Lydia, born between 1658 and 1679.
On 6 November 1688, at twenty three, she married Joseph Stetson, a grandson of Cornet Robert Stetson. The clerk wrote it "Hannah [Oldham] and Joseph Stetson, Nov. 6, 1688." She is the only Hannah Oldham in the Scituate births, so she is very probably the bride.
She bore ten children over twenty five years: Ruth in 1689, Lois in 1692, Bathshua in 1693, Nehemiah on 25 June 1696, Joseph in 1698, Hannah in 1700, Hesaciah in 1703, Abthiah in 1706, Abigail in 1707/8 and Mary in 1713/14. Her death is not recorded.
