Jeremiah Wood had two children at Stow and six more at Littleton, and the second town gave him something the first did not: a clerk in the habit of writing ages down to the day. "Jeremiah Wood Decesed July the 15th 1730 being fifty two years 2 months & Eight Days old." Counted back, that is 7 May 1678.

Stow recorded Joseph in May 1713 and Lucy in March 1715. By 1717 the family was at Littleton, which had been a town for two years, and the Littleton book carries Bennit, John, Jeremiah, Sarah, Jonathan and Eliphelet in a single block. A first Sarah died in December 1723 and the name was given again seven weeks later.

He died at fifty two, in the summer, leaving eight children and a widow who outlived him by twenty two years. His own parents are not recorded anywhere: Stow was not a town until 1683 and Littleton not until 1715, so neither of the two places that knew him could hold a birth of 1678.
