Joan Hucker married William Harvey on 2 April 1639. The colony court entered the marriage after its session of 1 April: "William Harvey & Joane Hucker, of Cohannett, marryed the second of Aprill, 1639." Both were then living at Cohannet, the settlement on the Taunton River that was renamed Taunton that spring.

Where she came from is not known. Hucker is a Somerset surname, and her husband came from Ashill in Somerset. No Hucker appears in the Ashill register, and nothing ties any of the Somerset Joan Huckers of the right age to her.

For some years after the marriage the family lived at Boston, in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Her children Abigail, Thomas, Experience and Joseph were born or baptised there between 1640 and 1645, and Jonathan was born at Taunton about 1647. Experience married her first cousin Thomas Harvey in 1668.

Her husband made his will on 12 June 1691. It names his children and grandchildren and no wife, so she had died before then.
