John Bryant
Husband of Sarah and father of Captain George Bryant of Plympton, and himself a son of a John Bryant of Plymouth. The Plympton book of deaths gives him in one line, that John, husband of Sarah, father of Captain George, son of John of Plymouth, died 29 March 1736 in his eighty seventh year, which places his birth about 1649 or 1650.
His known children are James, born 26 July 1682, who lived in the part of Plympton afterwards set off as Halifax; Joanna, born 13 November 1690, who married Deacon Samuel Churchill; Captain George, born about December 1693, who commanded the military company in Plympton and died in 1779 aged eighty five; and Ruth, who married William Churchill. His widow Sarah survived him almost six years and died on 10 January 1741 or 1742 in her eighty ninth year.
Two of his daughters married two sons of the first William Churchill of Plympton, so the two families are joined twice in one generation.
