John Gregory
John Gregory of New Haven and afterwards of Norwalk, where two of his daughters married two sons of Thomas Benedict. His sons Joseph and Thomas were baptised at New Haven in July 1646 and March 1648, which puts him there before the move.
He made his will on 15 August 1689, leaving his estate to his wife Sarah, and naming John and James Benedict as his sons in law. Thomas Benedict witnessed it. His widow Sarah named the same two men in an instrument of 9 October in the same year. Both papers are in the third volume of the Fairfield probate records, and between them they fix two marriages that would otherwise rest on a family memorandum written sixty six years later.
The Benedict genealogy suggests he may have been the son of Henry Gregory, who was at Springfield in 1639 and then Stratford, whose estate was distributed in June 1665 with an eldest son John as administrator. It says so with a "possibly." The link is not proved.
