John Pickett
John Pickett was at Salem in Massachusetts by 1648. On 19 November that year four of his children were baptised together at the First Church: John, James, Thomas and Sarah. The church record dates it in the old style, "19: 9 m: 1648," the ninth month, since the year then began in March. Three more children were baptised at Salem: Rebeca on 30 June 1650, Danyell on 25 January 1651/2 and Jacob on 3 September 1654. Where he came from is not known.
Samuel Orcutt's history of Stratford places the family in that Connecticut town from about 1650, although the last three baptisms were at Salem. His wife was Margaret. Their children married into the towns along the Sound. Sarah married Robert Lane in 1665. John married Mary Crosse in 1672/3. James married Rebecca Keeler in 1673 and was at Danbury by 1690. Rebecca married James Sention of Norwalk on 31 December 1673, and the Norwalk clerk wrote: "James Sention tooke to wiffe Rebecka Pickett, the daughter of John Pickett of Stratford." Thomas married Abigail Seymour of Norwalk in 1676.
Margaret died on 6 October 1683. John Pickett died at Stratford on 11 April 1684.
