Laurens van Densen
Laurens van Densen was born at Blerick, on the Maas River across from Venlo, about 1762. He was a son of Gerard van Densen and Aldegonda Hermans.
He married Joanna Ingenrijt, a Blerick woman. Their daughter Margaretha was born about 1800 and their son Gerard on 1 May 1803. Ten days after Gerard's birth, on 11 May 1803, a Joanna Ingenrijt aged 33 died at Blerick. That was very probably his wife, and Laurens was left with a small girl and a newborn boy. He never remarried. When he died he was still described as her widower.
In old age, with no occupation, he lived at Meerlo, a village on the Maas about twenty kilometers north of Blerick. He died there at nine in the morning on 1 November 1832, aged seventy. His son Gerard, a clog maker, came from Blerick to report the death the next day with Jan Reinier Linskens, a Meerlo shopkeeper and neighbor. His daughter Margaretha married Mathijs Schouren and died at Blerick in 1868. A declaration of his estate was filed at Maasbree in 1832.
