Louise Fischer
Louise Fischer was born in Germany about 1856, the daughter of Herman Fischer and his wife Mary, both German born. Her death certificate gives her age as seventy in May 1926. The stone at Vine Street Hill gives 1854.
She married Herman A. Nienaber in 1882. He was Cincinnati born, the son of John H. Nienaber, who was born in Hanover in 1815. Their sons William Edward and Albert C. were born in 1883 and 1886.
On 7 June 1889 she signed the deed that settled her father-in-law's estate, as Louisa Nienaber, wife of Herman Nienaber, releasing her dower. Dower was a wife's claim to a share of her husband's land for her widowhood, and the law asked her to give it up in writing whenever property passed out of his hands.
The Cincinnati directories carry her in 1894, 1903, 1905 and 1906 with Herman named beside her. He died on 9 May 1909 and was buried at Spring Grove, in the lot his father had asked for.
She lived seventeen years as a widow. Her younger son Albert died in 1921, at about thirty five. She died at her home at 1123 Broadway, Cincinnati, on 3 May 1926 and was buried two days later at Vine Street Hill Cemetery, apart from her husband.
Whoever answered the questions on her certificate knew who her parents were. Her father is entered as Herman Fischer, born in Germany. Her mother is entered as Mary, born in Germany, with no surname.
