Lucinda Cox was born in Nova Scotia on 15 January 1826. She was called Lucy, and that is how the clerks wrote her, always as Lucy Dodge, on the marriage returns of her daughters. Her memorial at Arena Cemetery gives her as "Mrs. Gardner Dodge ... she was actually Lucinda Cox Dodge", and says of her parents only "Cox & ?". Her family is not among the Coxes printed in Eaton's History of Kings County.

She married George Gardiner Dodge, called Gardner, born at Horton in 1822. The wedding was probably in Nova Scotia about 1845 or 1846, since their first child, Georgiana, was born at Calais, Maine, in 1847. Calais is on the St Croix River, across from New Brunswick. The family went on to Iowa County, Wisconsin, with the rest of the Dodges.

She had ten children, by her memorial: Georgiana, 1847; Susan Permelia, 1849; Jacob M. and Phebe Mae, both given as 1852; Charles Edward, 1854; Olive, 13 August 1856; Amanda Mary, 1858; Henry G., 1862; Leonard George, 1863; and Frederick Benjamin, 1868. Phebe and Amanda both married Whitts. When Amanda M. Dodge married Montford M. Whitt of Cross Plains, Dane County, the return named her parents as Gardner Dodge and Lucy Dodge.

Lucinda died at Arena on 25 February 1889, aged 63 years, 2 months and 10 days. In March 1897 her husband sold land at Arena, and the deed opens "between Gardner Dodge (widower) of Arena".
