Margaret Bacon
Margaret was the wife of John Bacon of Helmingham in Suffolk. Her maiden name is not known. They had seven children: William, Thomas, Michael, Richard, Barbara, Rose and a second William.
Her husband made his will on 7 September 1557. To "Margaret my wyef" he left three pieces of land for her life: the close called Medowplot in Barking Ash or Helmingham, the tenement Rystheblemys with its lands in Helmingham, and three acres in Otley. After her death they were to pass to their sons William the youngest, William the eldest and Thomas.
Several of her children were still young. Richard, Thomas, Barbara and Rose were to have their money only at twenty one, and the residue of the estate was left "to the disposicion of my executors to the bringinge upe of my children." He named "Margaret my wyef and Mihell my sone" as executors. She proved the will with Michael at Ipswich on 19 March 1557/8, as his "relict", his widow.
