Marian Caldwell was born about 1700 and is placed at South River, in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Her parents are not known.

In 1720 she married Richard Warfield, the eldest son of John Warfield and Ruth Gaither. He had lately given his dead father's lands to his younger brothers. "Returning to the homestead, he married Marion Caldwell, and had issue, John, Seth, Richard and Luke Warfield," J. D. Warfield wrote in 1905. The homestead was Warfield's Plains, on the Severn.

Their son John was born in 1722. Seth followed on 15 January 1723 and was christened in All Hallows Parish, where the clerk wrote his parents as "Richd Warfeild" and "Maran." Richard and Luke came after.

She died about 1725, when her eldest son was three and Seth about two, and was buried at St. Anne's in Annapolis. About a year later her husband married Sarah Gambrill, who bore him Joseph and Rachel. Forty years on, when Richard died in 1765, his will named Marian's son Seth and Sarah's son Joseph together as its executors.
