Mary Ophelia Tate
Mary Ophelia Tate was born in Georgia about 1881. She was the wife of William S. Tate, and in 1910 she was twenty nine and keeping house at Cumming in Forsyth County with four children, the youngest of them Louise, a baby. In 1920 she was Ophelia M. Tate, still near Cumming, with eight children at home.
Her maiden name has not been found. She was very probably a daughter of W. P. Wheeler of the Antioch neighborhood: in June 1922 her daughters Cleo and Kate spent a Saturday night "with their grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Wheeler," and one of her sons was named Wheeler Tate.
Her daughter Cleo married Marty Cheek of Douglasville at the Tate home on Christmas Eve 1923. In 1924 Mrs. W. S. Tate and her little daughters Louise and Imogene were in and out of the neighbors' houses on the Antioch rural route, and that June she and her husband went down to Douglasville when Cleo had an operation. By 1949 she and William were living at Gainesville.
