Mary Pratt
Born 30 June 1768 at Granville in Massachusetts, the youngest recorded child of Barnard Pratt and his wife Mary. The Granville clerk entered her as "Mary, d. Barnad and Mary, June 30, 1768." The Strong genealogy of 1871 places her birth at Sandisfield, the next town west, where her father later lived and died. Through her father she was a granddaughter of Capt. Phinehas Pratt and Sarah Lincoln of Granville. She married Eleazer Strong on 31 January 1788 and lived with him at Granville, where he farmed. Ten children are recorded between 1788 and 1805, beginning with Arta Mary at the end of the first year of the marriage and running down to Climena in January 1805.
Her father made his will at Sandisfield in October 1801. He named her "my well beloved daughter Mary Strong" and left her "one square table one platter". He died in March 1807.
She died on 12 February 1817, aged forty eight. Her husband married a second wife, Mary Chapin of Chicopee, on 13 September 1821 and lived until 15 June 1853, dying at eighty nine; the genealogy notes deliberately that his children were all by the first marriage. The direct line here runs through Ely Strong, born 15 March 1795, the fifth of the ten.
