Mary Wilcox
Mary was the wife of John Wilcox, or Willcock, a pail maker of Hartford in Connecticut. Her maiden name is not known. Their children were John, Ann, who married John Hall, and Sarah, who married John Bidwell.
Her husband died on 1 October 1651. His will set her up for widowhood in detail: twenty pounds in corn, cows, a hog, two shoats and a colt; the old house and the closet between it and the new house for life; a third of the fruit of both orchards; firewood laid in the yard ready for the fire; four pounds a year while she stayed in the house; his bed, linen and pew; his bees, fowls, sugar, honey, spice, silver and wampum. For two years she could ride the mare he had given their daughter Sarah, "to Windsor, to Wethersfield, or to Hartford, or to The Sermon." She was to see his servant Samuel and his maid Elizabeth Wakeman through their indentures. At her death she was to give twenty five pounds to her granddaughter Sarah Willcock.
She made her own will on 4 October 1666. It calls John Bidwell "my son-in-Law" and Ann Hall "my Daughter," and it named John Bidwell sole executor. She had died by 1 January 1668/9, when her inventory was taken.
