Mauritius Wolframsdorf
Mauritius Wolframsdorf, called Moritz, first appears at Seitingen on 21 January 1718. That day he stood godfather to Joachim, son of the smith Benedict Lehmann, with "Anna Maria Merzin" as godmother. On 9 September 1720 he stood for the same family again, and the boy was named Mauritius, probably for him. He was a godfather at Seitingen with Maria Grimm in April 1719 and October 1724, and again in 1723. Seitingen was a Catholic village in the Tuttlingen country of Württemberg, and Oberflacht was its filial village.
On 10 June 1721 he married Caecilia Merz of Oberflacht at Seitingen. The priest wrote: "Nuptias celebrarunt Honestus Juvenis Mauritius Wolframbsdorf et Caecilia Merzin." Honestus juvenis, a respectable young man, means he had not been married before. The witnesses were Conrad Greisshaber and Christian Kraus.
Their first child, Maria Anna, was baptised on 13 August 1722, fourteen months after the wedding. She and a brother, Joannes, were confirmed together at Seitingen in November 1733, entered as "Joannes, et Marianna, liberi Mauritii Wolframbsdorf". A daughter, Maria Elisabetha, was baptised on 1 January 1744. A Bartholomaeus Buetschlin of Seitingen was godfather to both daughters, twenty-two years apart. Maria Elisabetha married Matthäus Münk. A son, Joseph, married Maria Barbara Dess of Wurmlingen in 1767.
He was buried on 21 April 1762 as a widower, "omnibus SS. Sacramentis munitus, pie in Domino defunctus", fortified with all the holy sacraments and dead piously in the Lord. Caecilia had died before him.
No Wolframsdorf baptism before 1804 appears in the baptism index for the parish, which makes the family look like late arrivals. The books themselves show Mauritius at Seitingen by January 1718 and with a household of his own from 1721.
