Nehemiah Stetson the younger of Halifax in Massachusetts. He was a son of Nehemiah Stetson, who was born at Scituate in 1696, and most probably of Sarah Despard, who married his father at Pembroke in 1718. His birth was not entered. An elder brother named Nehemiah died at Pembroke on 27 April 1726, so he was born after that, probably between about 1727 and 1733.

He was published on 5 July 1754 to Elizabeth, the widow of Mial Bearce of the same town, and they were married on 30 July 1754. Their daughter Sarah was born on 21 February 1755.

About January 1755 he bought his father's farm. The deed reads "I Nehemiah Stetson of Hallifax ... Yeoman for and in consideration of fifty Pound lawfull money to me in hand paid by my son Nehemiah Stetson Jur of Hallifax". It was the homestead with its buildings and fences, lying partly in Pembroke and partly in Halifax, the ninth lot in the Major's Purchase, on the south side of the Herring Pond. On the same day he bought the adjoining land of John and Barnabas Briggs.

He died on 11 January 1756, when his daughter was ten and a half months old and a year after he bought the farm. In the Halifax town book his whole life is four entries: a publication, a marriage, a birth and a death, spanning eighteen months.
