Pierre Paquet
Pierre Paquet was the son of Pierre Paquet, a tailor, and Marthe Coular, and lived at Fort Condé, the French post at Mobile. His father was dead by 1726.
On 26 August 1726 he married Magdelaine, the natural daughter of Jean Baptiste Baudrau called Graveline and an Indian woman. The priest of Mobile, Father Matthias, published one bann and dispensed the other two, and he married them in Graveline's own house on the Pascagoula River, where he had been brought for the purpose. Pierre's uncle Michel Paquet was a witness, and made his mark.
By 1735 he was living on the bay at Mobile, where his daughter Marie Marthe was born. He bought land on the Mississippi River before 1731 and held part of Cat Island, in the Mississippi Sound. A son François and a daughter Marie Anne were baptised at New Orleans in the 1740s, both several years old. By 1748 his daughter Marthe was in the care of his brother Michel, and he is not heard of again.
