Rebecca Little
Rebecca Little was born on 15 September 1760 in Bertie County, North Carolina. On 27 September 1777, in the second year of the Revolution, she married Nathan Bryan, a Halifax County man three years older. Her family's name appears beside his in the records of both states. Micajah and Mary Little sold land in Martin County in 1779 with Nathan as a witness, and Micajah Little witnessed both of Nathan's Lick Creek deeds in Georgia in 1795 and 1797, the second time as justice of the peace. The records do not say how Micajah was related to her.
She named her eldest son Little Bryan, born in 1780. Rachel followed in 1782, then Jesse, Elias, Sarah in 1795, John Walker in 1797, Benjamin Franklin in 1800 and Mary Ann in 1803, along with James and a daughter who married Solomon Watson. Most of them were born on the family's farm on Lick Creek in Wilkes County, Georgia.
Rebecca outlived Nathan by about three years. His will of 1830 left her all his property for her lifetime. She died in Pike County, Georgia, on 21 October 1837, aged 77. They were buried on their own land between Griffin and Orchard Hill, in what is now Spalding County, on the old highway. The graves are marked only by a pile of granite rocks, with other family graves nearby.
