Ruth J. Hartman
Ruth J. Hartman was born on 20 May 1926. Her maiden name was Hartman. The death record of her first child names her as Ruth Hartman.
She married Robert Melvin Francis, a Second World War army sergeant from Tiffin Township, Adams County, Ohio. He was the son of Carey Hall Francis and Elma Matilda Bayless. The date and place of the marriage are not known.
Their first child, Cora Roberta Francis, was born in Adams County on 2 October 1949. She died of bronchopneumonia in Tiffin Township on 23 January 1950, three months and twenty-one days old, and was buried two days later in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at West Union. A son, John Robert Francis, was born in 1956 and died in 1984. Robert died on 2 May 1984, aged 61, and was buried in Section 4 of West Union Cemetery.
Ruth outlived her husband by twenty-seven years. She died on 23 July 2011 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, aged 85. She was brought back to Ohio and buried in Section 4 of West Union Cemetery. One granite stone carved FRANCIS stands over both of them, reading RUTH J. MAY 20, 1926 JULY 23, 2011 and ROBERT M. OCT 29, 1922 MAY 2, 1984.
