1716-1800
Born 1716
Died 1800
Children include Aaron

Sarah Holcomb was born in 1716 and died in 1800, aged eighty-four, by Abiel Brown's Genealogical History of the early settlers of West Simsbury (1856). She married Ichabod Miller, thirteen years older, who had charge of the Simsbury steel works about 1743.

About 1746 she and Ichabod moved from the Old Parish of Simsbury to West Simsbury, later the town of Canton. They settled on the farm left by Ephraim and Mercy Buel, next to Thomas Barber's. Her husband kept a blacksmith's shop there.

She had nine children over twenty years. Dudley was born in 1742, Aaron in 1744, Samuel in 1746, Sarah in 1749, Mehittabel in 1752, Sabra in 1755, Ruth in 1757, Moses in 1760 and a second Dudley in 1762.

Her eldest son died at Havana in 1762, the year her youngest was born. That youngest son was executed in New York for forgery in 1787. Aaron went to Vermont, Samuel to New York State and Moses to Hudson, Ohio. Ichabod died at West Granby in 1793, and Sarah outlived him by seven years.

Her own parents are not known. Seaver's Holcomb(e) Genealogy (1925) has no Sarah Holcomb born in 1716 and no Ichabod Miller.
