Sejer Rasmusen Bjøstrup
Sejer Rasmusen Bjøstrup of Skien in Telemark, father of Live Maria Seyersdatter Bjøstrup and therefore grandfather of the Heuch brothers who left that town for Kragerø about 1740.
The probate register of the Skien town bailiff opens his estate on 29 October 1704 and closes it the next day. It gives him three titles at once: borger og kirkeverge, samt prestens medhjelper, burgher and churchwarden, and also the priest's assistant. The last of those was a real parish office rather than a courtesy. A medhjelper was a layman appointed to help the minister keep order in the congregation, and it was given to men whose standing in the town was steady enough to be leaned on. His house stood paa wæstre Side af Tællemarchs gaden, on the west side of Telemarksgaten, and his widow was still entered at that address fourteen years later.
He left Maren Ditlofsdatter a widow with three children: Ditlof, about five; Live Maria; and Kirsten, who died the following year while still small and whose own tiny probate was opened in November 1705. Eight months before his death he had stood in court as lagverge, legal guardian, for his wife's mother at her husband's probate, which is the last thing the records show him doing.
