Thomas Hazard
Thomas Hazard of Portsmouth, freeman there in 1655 and earlier at Boston, where he was made a freeman in September 1639 and sat in the General Court of Elections in March 1640.
He spent a short time at Newtown on Long Island in 1656 and came back. In January 1653 he deeded fourteen acres next to his own farm as dower with his daughter Hannah when she married Stephen Wilcox. In December 1666 he sold Thomas Sheriff a house, fifty acres and an orchard at Portsmouth for twenty pounds together with a quarter share in Misquamicut, on terms that gave Sheriff possession only after Hazard's own death.
His will of 30 November 1669 names his wife Martha, his son Robert, his grandson Thomas, and his three daughters by their husbands: Elizabeth, wife of George Lawton; Hannah, wife of Stephen Wilcox of Misquamicut; and Martha, wife of Ichabod Potter. Later wills superseded it, which is a fair sign he lived a good while after making it.
