Velva Lee Clark
Velva Lee Clark was born on 24 January 1906 in Wayne County, Missouri. Clark was her name from birth. A memorial names her parents as Henry Morgan Clark and Letta Viola Tindell of Piedmont. She went to the second year of high school.
She married Elmer Floyd Clark, born in Wayne County in 1905. In 1940 they rented a house in Piedmont with their children Sanford, 11, Melba, 9, and Guy, 6. A fourth child, Ronald, was born in Piedmont on 21 June 1941.
By 1950 she and Elmer had separated. That April she was 44 and keeping house at Piedmont with Melba, 19, who was working, Guy, 16, and Ronald, 8. Elmer went west to Oregon in 1953.
Velva lived the rest of her long life at Piedmont. She died there on 25 April 1999, aged 93, and was buried in the Masonic Cemetery. Her stone reads "Beloved Mother & Grandmother." Her son Ronald was buried in the same cemetery in 2020; his obituary names his parents, Elmer and Velva Clark, and his sister, Melba Moore of Herculaneum.
