William Gaylord Jr.
William Gaylord Jr. was the eldest son of Deacon William Gaylord of Windsor. He was baptised at St Bartholomew's, Crewkerne, in Somerset on 28 December 1617, entered as William son of William Gaylard. His brothers Samuel and John followed there in 1619 and 1621/2. He was twelve when the family crossed in the Mary and John in 1630 with the Dorchester company. He grew up at Dorchester in Massachusetts and, from 1638, at Windsor in Connecticut.
He married Ann Porter on 24 February 1644, at twenty six. He died on 14 December 1656, aged thirty eight, leaving seven children under twelve.
His children were Anne, born April 1645; Hannah, born January 1646, who married a Crandall; John, born January 1648, who was propounded for freeman in 1671; William the third, born February 1650; Hezekiah, born February 1652, who died in 1678 without issue; Josiah, born February 1654; and Nathaniel, born 3 September 1656, three months before his father died.
