William Lovit Mansell
William Lovit Mansell was born on 9 November 1812 in Jackson County, Tennessee, by his memorial. His son Samuel's death record confirms a Tennessee birth.
His first wife was Arena K. Carr, born in Tennessee in 1815. Their sons, by the family's memorials, were William Elmore, born in 1839, Samuel Mobley, born on 3 September 1841 in Tennessee, and Richard Elvis. By 1850 the family was in Franklin County, Illinois, and Arena died that year. She lies without a marker in the Liberty-Ridlin Cemetery at Macedonia. When Samuel died in 1916, his death record could give her surname only as "CAR".
He married again on 25 August 1853 in White County, to Susan Reader. She died in 1861, by her memorial. Their children included Millard Moses, born in 1856. A William Mansell also married Sarah Stephens in White County on 20 October 1851, and whether that was this man is not proved.
His third wife was Juda M. Ventress, married in White County on 2 September 1862, by her memorial. Their children, by the family's memorials, were Mary Florence, who married a Price, Leanna, who married a Dial, Lyman Beacher, Sarah Elizabeth, who married a Hart, and William L.
He died in Hamilton County on 15 March 1876, aged sixty-three, and is buried at Ten Mile Cemetery near McLeansboro. His stone reads "FATHER / WILLIAM L. MANSELL / 1812 - 1876".
